Fresno is beautiful. Here’s proof.

Fresno isn’t usually regarded as a strong contender for travel magazine best-of lists. But seen from the sky, the biggest city in the San Joaquin Valley can look downright enchanting.
Brian Diener, a young photographer from Fresno, has taken hundreds of aerial shots of the city, some of which were highlighted this week in the Fresno Bee.
Reached by phone, the 20-year-old said his hometown gets a bad rap. “There’s a lot of people, especially in my age group, who want to get out of Fresno,” he said. “But Fresno’s not as bad as people make it out to be.”
As Diener has tweeted his images of the city, they’ve drawn reactions that fall largely into two categories. One includes people who are delighted, if a bit surprised, to see the city look so beautiful.
“And then,” said Diener, “there’s the other half of the people who are like, ‘Yea, wait till you land and you see homeless people and gunshots going off.’”
Diener shared a selection of his photos with the Sun.
